Sustainability

Message from our President and CEO

Since our inception, Tallgrass has leveraged the expertise of our employees to provide innovative solutions and exceptional service to our customers and thoughtful engagement in the communities in which we operate.

Our traditional asset base, which for so long has served as a tent-pole for our business, now provides our company a platform for growth. These assets, which span eleven states and growing, play a leading role in delivering the energy that powers our nation and enables our quality of life. We understand that the services we provide, and the way we deliver them, have a ripple effect across society. It is this understanding – that safety is sustainability – that fuels the way we work. It’s why we challenge ourselves daily to stay at the leading edge of innovation and pursue cutting edge solutions. Last year, our safety performance, along with our expertise in operating large-scale infrastructure, granted us admission into transformative coalitions aimed at developing solutions for a clean energy future. These partnerships, such as our grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to study and design commercial-scale carbon capture from a hydrogen-producing facility and our funding from the Wyoming Energy Authority to develop a commercial-scale CO2 sequestration hub, prove that our vision for the future is shared by other key stakeholders.

These factors have also led us to the forefront of the scientific community. We became the first interstate pipeline to partner with the world-class emissions monitoring organization, Project Canary, which conducts independent comprehensive emissions detection and ground-based monitoring. We are on pace for Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) to become the first interstate natural gas pipeline in the United States to receive a comprehensive and independent environmental assessment and certification from Project Canary’s certification program. This third-party validation will provide insight to our company and validation to our customers that molecules transported through our system are done so sustainably.

It is not lost on us that as the world gathered last year in Glasgow to talk about the clean energy future, many of the topics covered are the very projects and initiatives we’ve been leading at Tallgrass. We also recognize that it is our history of safety, and the expertise of our teammates, that enables us to look to the future and truly be Leading Energy Solutions.

Sincerely,

Matt Sheehy Tallgrass President and CEO
